I have this skimmer.

What my question is I am about to change tanks (in the near future) and I want this skimmer to sit under the stand (out of site) But my sump is 18 inches tall. The return from the skimmer is not 18 inches tall, more like 9 inches tall, can I just add some pipe and make a 90 degree up and over the sump. ( I think it will have to come up about 8 inches) Or will this make the skimmer not work? Right now I have the skimmer sitting outside the stand (my old tank) on a small stand I built to make it high enough to go over the sump. (this makes it to tall for my new stand if I use the same set up as I have now) Right now from the floor to the top of the skimmer is 37 inches, If I set up the skimmer the way it is now the stand would have to have 42 inches clearance under the stand. And I think 42 inches under the stand would make the tank too tall.
Thank you Bruce
