I am interested in possibly adding a Splendid Dottyback (Pseudochromis splendens). Does anyone have one? If so tell me about it. I need an sps safe fish that is a good addition to a 100 gal reef.

Thanks

I have had one for about 3 yrs, we call him freckles, he is in a 24g with 2 naked clowns, a small tailspot blenny, a goby and a pistol shrimp. He moves sand and makes tunnels so he can go from one side of the rock to the other. I got him from KeensReef in Tucker. He said he is an ORA Dottyback tank raised, he is suppost to be milder mannered. He might be hard on other dottybacks and wrasses. He is beautiful and likes to showoff! :)
He has not harmed any corals or any of the cleanup crew!

I keep a Splendid Dottyback with several other fish, including a Midas Blenny and a Royal Gramma, in a 90 gallon reef tank. The Splendid Dottyback does not bother coral or other inverts. Very beautiful fish.

I've always had one in my tanks. In 7 years I've had two and the first one "got lost" in a big tank swap I did a few years ago. I know he made it into the new tank but after a month or two of not seeing him I went ahead and got another. I have LPS, SPS, inverts and a mean Clarkii and it hasn't posed any problems. They are small but brave and I never have any trouble spotting him since he's always swimming a few inches away from cover.
