Sponge out of control?

I posted a picture of this a couple of months ago and it was identified by several members as a sponge.

It is growing wild and enveloping a rock, not really the best look. Is there anything I can do to stop it? I'm not sure if it's a good or bad thing to let it go.

I like the way it looks...but if you want it gone, sponge hates being exposed to air.

I think it's cool - but like anything, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Many sponges will die off if exposed to air - the ugly ones seem to tolerate it though.

And if you let it air for a bit and put it back in the tank - if it does die off, that will cause a water quality issue.

If you don't like it, maybe trade it to someone who likes it?
