I’m coming back into the hobby and am about to begin purchasing updated items for my reef aquarium. I was wandering if any of you knew of any good refugium sumps (needs to fit under a 75 gallon tank/ no more than say 36 inches long) and skimmers (should be able to handle approximately 150 gallons). Please include makes/models/approximate prices if known.

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

I would build your own setup. Make it the way you want it and usually saves money. Buy a 30g tank, go to Lowe's buy some plastic sheets to make baffles, and do your own plumbing. It all depends on what you are able/willing to spend on equipment.

+1

A 20L or 29g will be 30" long and leave you room for other equipment. You could go with an Octopus skimmer rated at 200 gallons, and you'll be set.

Haha, the 18" depth of the 40b is the same depth as a 75, and if the stand is the regular pet store stand, the walls are set at 16" wide, with the frame on top and bottom at 18". If the back is open it could stick out 2", but because of the build of the stand, you lose appx 6" on the ends and you'd have to knock out the center bracing on the rear, as well as find a way to support the tank up a few inches (those stands have a 3-4" lip running around them) which would decimate possible room for a skimmer or other tall "in sump" equipment. Also, you lose the room at the ends, having sacrificed it to put the sump in...

Just be thankful you don't have a 55. 11 3/4" width is impossible to find a container to make a sump fit in. I have a sterolite container linked to what used to be a wet dry. I tore through every wally world, Home Depot, Lowes and even the container store... nothing better than a 10 gal sterolite from wally world worked.
