I want to take the rim off of a 50g tall tank I have...how do you get them off? It's just the plastic bit around the top and bottom.

Also, is the silicon down the seems all that holds it together?

I'd like complete disassemble it.

Thanks

If I'm not mistaken the top and bottom rims are siliconed on, after the glass is siliconed together. So once you remove the rims, yes, that's all that holds it together.

A thin blade or sharp edge you can slide up under the trim helps a fair bit. Then just takes a bit of force and time to get the trim completely off. Before you reseal the tank, remember to remove the old silicone, else it won't stick as well.
