I can hear it clicking as it tries to turn on, but it doesn't have the ooomph to get over the hump. I have to manually turn the dial. My dial continues to go around, but when it gets to the change over to "on", it just can't make the click.
I wrote to Current too, and they told me the part wasn't available b/c the light is no longer manufactured after 2009. I pitched a coniption fit and they "found" one, but I suspect when the next timer goes out, that will be the end of my dial timers.
One thing I thought might work would be if someone can get into the wiring and somehow re-wire one of the timers to a different extension cord so there are 2 independent plugs. Then you could use an external timer to simulate the daylight to dusk features. I'm not sure it's possible. My husband is pretty handy with that sort of stuff (he's an electronics specialist) so I'll be having him replace my timer, and ultimately when the next one goes out, try to add a second cord to control the lights.
Good luck to you.
