So when I got my tank it came with a 24" Current Sundial fixture. This fixture has 2 built in timers, not digital, the dial ones. Well the timers get stuck in two different spots. Ive taken the fixture apart, took the timers apart, scrubber them with vinegar, sprayed with wd40 still no luck.. any advice or am I hosed?

Are they suck so that the light is on? If so you could just get regular outlet timers and do it that way.

Not really familiar with the light though.

No. The fixture has two timers, one for white and one for blues.. but only has one cord. They arnt stuck in the sense that I cant move them, but they get caught up and get stuck on that spot, so they dont turn off. Does that make sense?

Id contact the manufacturer to see if this an ongoing issue or what they can do for you...

I know just how to fix it.. I had a NOVA EXTREME lighting system that stopped working on me..

Just open the unit up, rip out all the interior T5 lights/ballasts/switches/wires...

replace with two Ecoxotic Panorama light fixtures and a splitter(with switches)..

enjoy your new LED lighting system..

(that was meant to be a little funny..)

when the mechanical dial timers break, it's typically a small plastic piece within the mechanical workings of the timer.. (or a nylon gear missing teeth) either way, unless you're comfortable removing the timers (or bypassing them).. the unit is unrepairable..

HAHA I wish.. If I had the $ to do it, It would be done already!

I emailed Current, well see what they say but in their FAQs they say you cant buy a replacement timer. I am comfortable with taking apart things and tinkering with them. Maybe ill find a way to split the cords into two and hook up to a digital timer.. I think I have seen that done before.

Eh... I'd probably go buy two cheapo timers from Home Depot and be all set. I've read about the Current Dual timers going after a while (However, I've had one running on a nano for the last 5 years without issue).

Unless yours is relatively new... then def contact the manufacturer.

I can hear it clicking as it tries to turn on, but it doesn't have the ooomph to get over the hump. I have to manually turn the dial. My dial continues to go around, but when it gets to the change over to "on", it just can't make the click.

I wrote to Current too, and they told me the part wasn't available b/c the light is no longer manufactured after 2009. I pitched a coniption fit and they "found" one, but I suspect when the next timer goes out, that will be the end of my dial timers.

One thing I thought might work would be if someone can get into the wiring and somehow re-wire one of the timers to a different extension cord so there are 2 independent plugs. Then you could use an external timer to simulate the daylight to dusk features. I'm not sure it's possible. My husband is pretty handy with that sort of stuff (he's an electronics specialist) so I'll be having him replace my timer, and ultimately when the next one goes out, try to add a second cord to control the lights.

Good luck to you.

That's the EXACT problem I am having. So it sounds like it may be a common problem. Were did you purchase you fixture from? I know the one I have is about two and a half years old. If the tell me sorry even after I complain then I think I will just rewire. Thanks for your help!
