Well after long deliberation I pulled the trigger in a Rollermat. Read more about it here: http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/automatic-roller-mat-theiling.html">http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/automatic-roller-mat-theiling.html</a>

This will sit in the sump taking the place of the filter socks. I've been searching for a way to get good mechanical filtration without introduction of nitrates. This is fully automated and will not cause nitrates to build like a sock will. The roll is changed every 4 to 6 months pending the bioload. Can't wait to try it!

can you dial how fast or slow the roller mat rolls?

No. It rolls only when it gets clogged. It has a float sensor inside that detects when the flow of water through the filter material has slowed to the point where it needs to change the roll. You could probably tweak how soon it does this by adjusting the height of the sensor though

Rollermat, 3x 1-1/2" and 2x 3/4" Bulkheads. A magnetic 3 probe holder for the sump, and a Finex 300w titanium heater....

Still waiting on my Bluefish Controller for my LED fixture. Getting impatient. It should be here by Monday.

Also! The tank is fully built, but the steel stand isn't quite ready. It should ship next week as well. Can't wait to see it!

Picked up one of these compliments of Ricky from Norcross. Thanks!
I also picked up a 5lb Co2 bottle, media, and regulator. This should gitterdun for a while. Its rated for 400g, though I had this one my 75g that was packed with SPS and it wasnt too much. Im not sure where this thing tops out, but I am pretty confident it should work even if the 180 is packed (it will be :))

Bluefish arrived on Friday, and I started working on the LED fixture again, though while in the process had a blunder that set me back a bit. I blew up all the drivers on one of my PCBs... so they have been reordered. Hopefully they arrive late this week and I will have video up on the DIY forum thread where I am logging that build. Head over there if you want more info on that!

I am starting a 190gallon custom build- I have been going back and forth on the roller mat. When are you going to have it installed? Would love another persons opinion!

It will be a while. My advice is to pull the trigger. I've talked to a few who have it, and they all love it. Not having to change socks is going to be a huge relief in tank maintenance.

I like it! Excited to see it come together. If you ever need a hand I am in Alpharetta as well.

Who made the sump?

I called BRS they said the roller MATT could only handle about 600gph I would assume you would be running more than that through your sump... What is your plan for the extra water??? I was thinking I would need 2 or 3 of them if I was running 1900 gph...

You can just feed it with a pump or off of a manifold. It doesn't have to be fed straight from the overflow from the display. That should work better but it's not necessary.

Stand is coming from them as well, and they also built the sump

The good news is the tank was done exactly how I wanted. The bad news is it seems that during shipping the tank was damaged :(. Im not sure if it was handled too rough or what, but in the seems there are some cracked glass, but no signs of an impact to the crate or the tank itself. Im super bummed, but the tank manf has promised to either send someone out to repair the tank, or send me a new one. So assuming they send me a new tank. That means I will have to figure out what to do with the existing tank. Anyone interested in replacing the bottom panel? :)

nice looking tank!!--- Totally didn't read the comments before I posted that - that really sucks about the cracks! That is great they are willing to make it right!
