If they decide to send me a new tank I will have to think about it. I may just repair it myself.

BTW, I asked him about the theory that the entire tank would have to be disassembled and reassembled because new silicone cannot bond with already cured silicone and he said that is a total myth. He said new silicone will absolutely bond to old silicone just as it would when it was all fresh.

He also said if you want to test it yourself, just put some silicone on a flat surface, and let it cure, then try putting another layer on top of it, and the second layer will be inseparable, and be just as strong as the original.

I must admit, I would prefer a whole new tank, rather than a repair and reseal, but at this point, the tank is exactly what I have wanted for years, so I will suffice with a repair if its done properly and will still be under warranty.

Yikes. I understand impatience. ... but get it replaced if they are willing to. ...

It's not my call. They are going to either fix or replace pending the economics for them. Obviously I would prefer to have it rebuilt. I can/will wait.......

It was just pulled up my driveway on a pallet jack. Holy crap was that a challenge pulling/pushing a 500lb box up my steep *** driveway.....not fun

It was handled fine when I saw it, and the crate didn't appear to have sustained any damage during the move

It was probably a forklift driver setting the crate down to hard. It really sucks. Can't imagine how you felt when you saw the cracks.
Has the manufacturer given you a timeline?

Hmmm.. I'm going to have to try that tonight. I'm in the process of re-sealing the secondary seals on a tank right now. I've removed the vertical silicone. I'd rather not remove the silicone at the bottom.

Yeah, I was thinking the same about the forklift. In that case they need to package the tank with more foam or something. To say I was upset was an understatement.....

He said he would let me know by tomorrow (Fri) what direction he planned to go. I imagine he will just find sending a new tank will be more economical than flying 2 guys from Alberta Canada to Atlanta, and shipping two panels of glass to my house. Either way I got the impression he wanted to resolve it quickly. I would have to imagine my tank would go to the top of the list if it needs to be built again.

If I get a new tank, I will almost certainly be rebuilding the old one. I may need to convince the wife that two display tanks (one upstairs and one in my basement) are in order!!

I would hope so.

It's a necessary QT!!

I'm going to be returning the cups possibly as early as today. The guy that loaned them to me is a member and he lives in north Cumming. I'm sure when you're ready he'd be willing to let you use them and maybe even lend a hand. I'll pm you his screen name.

Well....new tank was shipped. Dude to arrive at facility on Wed. I plan to go pick it up there...

Anyone avail to help get it from the shipper to my basement? I'm hoping to uncrate it there to ensure no damage...then get it into my Acadia (should fit np)

I have a pickup. I could meet you at the terminal. It will be easier the have them get it in the bed with a forklift and much easier to get it out at your house.

Looks like pickup tomorrow/Fri. Yeah if brought home in the crate, getting it in the back of a pickup would be ideal. You don't think we should verify its not damaged at the facility?

I would open the top and verify what you can from the inside then put the top back on. It's rimless so strapping it in could put undue stress on the joints if it's not in the crate. Having it strapped in to the truck bed means it will not shift under heavy braking, if the need arose.

Keeping it in the crate also allows the use of their forklift for loading and gives it even support on the bottom during transport.

Thank you so much to Kenny and Anit! Kenny let me borrow his suction cups, and without them there was zero chance we would have got the tank in place undamaged. And Anit (Andy) for helping me pick the tank up from the depot and assisting with getting it in place. Overall it went well and the second tank looks fantastic!
