Torqued's 180g Build

Maybe I am mistaken but I thought rimless tanks should always have foam placed under them to account for any bit on the stand or floor not being perfectly level. May be worth researching before putting water in the tank.

Thanks,

Austin

Well folks, the move is over! We are in the new house!

I learned a hard lesson in the process. Do not let movers touch your prize custom fish tank without your supervision! Otherwise this is what happens!

After a couple hours of a whole lot of blood and sweat....(literally) I managed to remove all the external overflow broken glass. It was a MAJOR PITA!

I ordered replacement glass from Glasscages.com (cost about $225) after having them drill 5 holes and shipping).

I am expecting the new glass in a couple weeks. Once I reassemble the overflow, the tank will be water tested in the garage. Then it's time to begin the build... AGAIN......

I did buy foam. I have 1" thick insulation foam.. you can see it in the pic above. It's purple.

here is the rebuilt overflow box. The Silicone is still not cured yet (its pretty soft/sticky) even 36 hours after building the box. Im not sure if the humidity is the issue or what?

I got $300 from the moving company. But that barely covered the cost of the glass. Had I needed to have someone repair this for me, I would probably be looking at double that.

Crossing my fingers this goes ok! Should be ready for water test this weekend

Small update.

I started building the canopy. Working around the external overflow made it substantially more challenging :)

Still need to build a panel for all the wires etc, but tonight's install of the cabinet was a big step!

I may start working on the canopy again next.  I still plan to put doors in the front, and put crown/trim on it so it's fancy like the stand.

Decided against the basement sump, and I am glad I did.  I would have had to go up and down those steps 1000x a day lol.  While I have substantially less room, it is convenient to just have everything under the tank.

Looks great. I like the stand! Basement sumps are nice but there are drawbacks. I have everything underneath too. Personally I'd like a room/closet behind the tank to use but that wasn't in the cards for me
