anyway the bulkhead fitting is Polypropylene, something tells me that that is not compatible with PVC fittings......

Where do you get those? Home Depot does not carry.. etc,

Anyone use this tank? I know Chris (mojo) does....

I want to put a pump on the outside and so it will just pump the saltwater into the sump

Hey Todd. I was thinking about doing the same thing and changing the way my sump works. How long did it take for you to get the container?

On another note, here is a link to a thread on RC where a guy did exactly what you are talking about. I have not read the whole thing but it is a good possibility that he talks about it.

Mike

I use PVC with the bulkhead that came with mine. Is yours threaded?

If you need a bulkhead, what size do you need todd?

Works fine with PVC. I have 2 and they both have PVC pipe and ball valve spigots. The default size for those tanks is 3/4" pipe thread. Schedule 40 fittings work fine.

They do come with a red plug in them, though. Have to pop that out.

Oops. On the 75g, the default size is 1" pipe thread. Just looked at the diagram. The only way it would be different is if you asked for something different.

Its like a 2" bulkhead... The thing measure like 2" PLUS on the inside and 2 3/4 to the outside threads....I have no idea what size it is.!!

It's threaded inside AND outside.

BTW......It took like 2 weeks to get it drop shipped....and it was $75 for shipping...So figure $200 for the one I got...But man its nice!!

Just called them..Its a 2" bulkhead....they told me they could have put a 3/4" in it if I wanted or a 1"...Did not know I had that option...

So any of you thinking of doing this..Order the bulkhead the size ya want..No costs to change them out.

Todd I've got some 2" fittings, adaptors, and some 1.5" true union ball valves left over from my build if you need them. You'll have to wait till I'm back from NY on the 9th, though. Just let me know.

Thank you!...I will try Home Depot or a supply house tonight. I want to finish this freaking sump once and for all.

I appreciate the offer though, if all falls thru..I will take you up on it.

Wow. That's a huge bulkhead. Their
a> shows only 1" standard.

Yep and I went to HD to get pieces and I got the wrong ones...That REALLY ticks me off Got female adapter needed male. SOB!!

I have a 55 gal which I hooked up to circulate and feed the sump. The 55 gal could be shipped UPS for like $35. Anything larger had to have freight.

I thought the standard bulkhead was 1", but it doesn't hurt to tell them 1" threaded.

It's nice to just turn a knob to add water to the tank. The pump is obviously overkill, but I had it sitting around. I added another 1" bulkhead to the top so I could recirculate for mixing. I also added a float switch for the RO. Here are a couple of pics...

Most people will tell you white is better than black so you can see the water level. I chose black thinking it would reduce the algae growth?. I tell the water level based on the recirculation tube.

The gate valve is very helpful in controlling the flow to the sump when I'm topping-off salt water for skimate waste.
