So we were taking out all of the fish from our 29 and putting them into a bucket to drip for the 72, as soon as the clowns were put into the bucket with their own water they died, but the scooter blenny, royal gramma and pep are all doing fine. So not really sure what happened.

how soon? as in "as soon as they hit the water" over a period of time, etc? how new was the saltwater in the bucket? was it water from the tank you were taking them out of? what was the bucket used for prior to this event?

that suxs though... hope we find the answer

also, you said the clowns had their own bucket correct? just curious why you didn't use one for all?

They died slowly over the course of like 10 mins. It was a bucket that had live sand, but was rinsed out well and dried. The other fish are perfectly fine and they where in the same bucket. The saltwater was from the tank they where in.

I would assume they had an underlying condition cuz clowns are really hardy. mmm, they weren't showing any ill effects before takin them out were they?

Same as the tank, we have a thermometer in the bottom so we make sure everything is right, it was 78.

The sand is still alive and their where other fish in the same bucket as the clowns, including a pep and they all lived.

Seems like a coincidence so sorry to hear about the loss though. For the invert not to die and the hardy clowns to pass seems very unlikely that the bucket was the source.
