I have been using distilled water from kroger for the water changes in my tank. someone suggested using publix' RO water if i couldnt find a place for RO/DI water. i went to publix today to check it out and they had 3 selcetions

"spring water" -which is obviously just their filtered tap water
"drinking water" - which said it was carbon filtered
"purified water" - which said it was (oxidized or oxygenated-cant remember) and deionized i believe

wouldnt the later just be DI water ..i didnt see a RO version there
does anyone use publix RO water and if so which is it

Publix has a vending machine ... byob (bring your own bottles) called Glacier. That's RO water. Quality depends on how often/well the machine is serviced, it used to be 25 cents a gallon but it's been a while since I bought any (might be 30 cents now...)

I used it when I did maintenance before I opened the shop - no ill effects. You can always test the TDS of the water to see for yourself.

ahh ok thanks...i didnt even look for a machine...ill check it out next time im there :)

I saw it the other day for 30cent .Most krogers have the same machine next to the produce department.I used it for years before getting an rodi filter.

I also get my water from publix and kroger from the Glacier machines. 30 cents/gal and $1.50 for 5gal

oh wow i hope they have them at my kroger..thats cheap compaired to the distilled kroger water ive been buying

I've been getting my water the same way. Since I only have a 30 cube, I just don't bother buying an RODI unit......

.30/1.50=1gal/5gal

I've tested the water randomly, it generally ranges from 00 to 01 on my TDS meter. I did get some from a Wayfield Grocery store once that I swear was just running straight from a garden hose, as I had an algae outbreak the week after.....

I've used the water from Kroger off and on for the past 2 years. I have tested it with my TDS meter and never found it to be over 2 -- and at times I have arrived when the machine was due for maintenance. For me, it has been a perfectly safe supplement to my RO/DI system when needed.
