Where to buy 55g plastic drums?

Dakota9;413726 wrote: All you really need are Faucets. The faucets fit in to the knock out of the 70mm cap we all see on the 5 gallon tighthead pails we use. If you'll look into the center of the cap, it has a female thread. You just knock out the center and screw in a 38mm faucet. Faucets convert any 70mm tighthead into a "quicksever" unit. I think our faucets go for roughly 2.50 each, maybe alil better if you buy more than a dozen. I believe they are made in England and are quailty, long lasting plastic faucets.

I'll check with advanced drum in.......... AH!!!!!!!!!! I can't think of the name of that place...... Where Marc (flyingarmy) lived. Advance Drum is there, and I although I believe we get very competitive pricing, they are opened to the public.

You'll need to know the lingo if you call them or anyone else......, if you want new or reconditioned, definately hdpe or poly drum, and if you want one bung or two......... No seriously, they'll ask. Most 55g drums are double bunged, but they do have single bungs, which are the drum holes </em>on the top. It appears you are also interested perhaps in a 30 and 15g? If so, they have those as well......

I'll check into it and post more tomorrow regarding availability and cost.....

uhhhh....yeah...for us common folk does that mean that I can get a 5 gallon bucket with a spigot on the side...lol

Well, you can get a five gallon cube with a faucet on the top, and then turn it on it's side to despense.......

Where the h*ll did you find that avatar? I'm almost offended (well, almost, LOL)

Are you making fun of the way I look???..lol

Actually, my 8 year old daughter and I were looking at all the funny pictures we could find and sitting laughing together...just good quality father daughter time that I don't get often enough. She said I needed to tell people it was me so they could laugh too...so I changed my avatar.

I'm working on this now. I can't really quote a price of any sort until I get our updated pricing from the vendor. I should have some answers by this afternoon.

Tagging along, as I am interested in tops for the 55G. I have (2) 2 bung 55 gal drums, but had to cut the tops to get into them. Would love to be able to cover them back up now that I am done with the inside.

Oh yeah, and I have 2 of these guys (or VERY similar):

that came with a full setup I purchased a while ago. Pretty sure one was only used for RO and the other was used for salt mixing. $15 for both, and yes I will be at the meeting tomorrow. If anyone is interested, let me know and I will bring with me.

That link is dead... LOL

Here's my email to the vendor;

I looked at that link. Those are very nice containers, but you can add a faucet to most any pail out there with a 70mm cap

Would some of you like me to bring you some faucets? I'll get the best price I can, and could deliver them to the meeting if anyone was interested.......

Per US Plastics, this is the only item on the market the meets the criteria specified. Please advise if this is vastly different from the invisioned product you were looking to source.

Also, per US Plastics, it's common to purchase 55g Poly Drums and ad bulkheads as an aftermarket feature.

I'm still waiting on a return email from my second local source.

Updates available as they become available to me.

There are true open top barrels out there, these storage containers from USP are $$$ and over-engineered, LOL

Hey........ I'm just messenger boy.

Still looking for natural drums, waiting on an email.

I know,
and I do appreciate the time you spend for us - the ones I mentioned sometimes pop on Craigslist - but are usually gone in a day.

From what I've seen, these items are rare because they are after-market mods someone is making, perhaps for an industry that is as now, unknown to me.

Is there a special bulkhead needed for a circular surface of a barrel? Seems to me like a standard "flat" bulkhead wouldn't make a watertight seal.

Dustin

It does, the force you use tightening it up will press the wall flat in that spot - just use a quality bulkhead and tighten it REALLY well!

Robb

Yup, I used a flat bulkhead in my 18g tub for my water mixing. Long as you get the seal on the correct side and make it tight enough, no problems. I hooked an old pump up to mix water and ran PVC up and over the side, works like a charm and it's portable.
