Goodness!! I don't even think they look that cool lol, there neat and new but wow...

That's an understatement.
For some reason every time I see this, or some zoa that goes for $300, I think of the Dutch Tulip Craze that happened in the 1600's. I would still like to get one... I think that I'll wait until the bubble pops or I win the lottery.

That's the epitome of retarded! The fish themselves would be upset to know they are selling for a ridiculous price like that. How on earth can the seller look themselves in the mirror, or sleep well at night.

I personally would prob never spend that much on a fish lol, BUT wth does it matter what they sell for if someone wants to pay that much?
If u don't want them, don't be one of the FOURTY (!!!!!!) bids lol!

I would assume these are folks looking for breeding stock, and the possibility of a big payoff down the road with variations of this lightning patter is probably the motivation for the high prices. $6-7K is not a lot of money if you are looking at tens or hundreds of thousands down the road.

As a regular reefer, though, these fish are not attractive enough to to pay that much for as a specimen in a display tank, IMO. Besides, that fish will try to kick butt all over the tank when it gets larger anyways.

I knew these were going to be pricey. Wasn't expecting this though.........$5300 on opening bids is insane

That's exactly what it is Dave. I'm part of a breeders website and I know some of those guys were wanting to get one of Matt's offspring. I knew they would be in the 1000s.

Gotta get the money for them when you can. First to the market with these will make the dough. These guys will be cheap in a matter of time once they get bred in any numbers.

Yep
stores are already retailing fish for last year's wholesale price. I've never had any funds to chase a fad, but really couldn't keep up anyway.

That comment is stupid. This is the very definition of a free market economy and supply & demand. Why shouldn't the seller make a lot of money on something he's worked for and for something nobody else has? The fish are worth whatever somebody is willing to pay.

He has invested lots of time and 4k alone for the fish.

I think they are very unique and worth what someone is willing to pay

^ this....

Shoot. Try drinking some Romanee-Conti 1990 Domaine de la Romanee-Conti. It's worth more as it's peed out after ingesting it than these fish are. This is little league!
