Both with large, they break down at different pH's. The large can have a lower pH than the small.

is this the right one?
won't the lower pH in the reactor cause the pH in the tank to drop?
 
Yup thats the large stuff. Yes the lower pH in the reactor might lower the tanks pH....but thats why you have a dual reactor. the second chamber doesnt really do anything as far as media dissolving, it just acts as an area for the pH to raise more before it goes into the tank. People run the large media around 6.3-6.5 and the small 6.5-6.7 at least thats what I've been noticing. I run my small media at 6.6 any lower and you risk melting it.
 
Thanks guys...I didn't think anything was growing at first but then I ran into this old-ish pic. Always good to see it's actually doing what it's supposed to.
 
:) I'll add another pic in sept....if I remember. Should be interesting to see the growth then, especially seeing how I have the Ca reactor on it now ;)
 
Did you just try to steal my poo line? Tisk tisk tisk, totally seems like something a sand bottomer would do.
