My display module took a bath and until I get a new one I need to borrow someone's for the day. It wouldn't be an issue if I hadn't knocked the APEX off my wireless network by changing routers on it the day before it happened. I live in South Forsyth between exit 13 and 14. I would like to keep the drive 30 minutes or less each way.
Thanks guys,
Seth

Seth,

Hook it up to a laptop... direct connection using an ethernet cable will give you the apex interface..

Seth, if you can't get a direct connection I have one that is not in use that you can borrow...I am in Peachtree Corners....PM me if needed.

Hmmm. I guess only if I remember the static IP address I had assigned it. I'll need the display to find that.

The IP wasn't the problem when all was said and done. It was the port I assigned that was the problem. After 8 hours of work on it today I got part of it figured out. Now I just need to figure out how to get my Apple products and remote server to get along.

What's the issue? I run Apple products at home.

I am trying to establish remote online access through dyndns. And email alerts through gmx. I don't know where to input the necessary info into Airport utility. I haven't tried to get the email up yet. Just dyndns. The unofficial Apex guide seems to fall a little short on detailed instructions for Airport Extreme.
I'm very tech challenged. That's why I have Apple stuff. Usually easier to work with until you try and make it work with a non-Apple product.

Unfortunately in this case it isn't. Apple hasn't climbed on board the dyndns express so their routers don't support it. You'll have to download the dyndns Apple app that will automagically keep dyndns up to date with your external IP. On your router you'll need to put in port mappings for both your web access and email access. You can pick any port for web but I think gmx requires port 25 to be open. I can check my settings when I get home and shoot you a screenshot.

Dyndns is working on a way to support Apple routers but you have to pay for one of their higher level of services to get it to work. I went the free route.
