Help with new tank.

I have another crazy question. The stuff growing in my tank has all turned brown and has little air bubbles on top of it. It is on the sand and the rocks. The stuff that keeps comming back on the glass looks more like green instead of brown. Is all this part of the cycle its going thru?

sounds like algae, diatoms, and or cynobacteria. The micro bubbles are most likely from the algae producing oxygen. Do you see more in the evening?

I'm only home in the evenings I have to work until 6pm so not sure what it looks like before then. When I leave in the mornings its to early. Is there anything to worry about with this?

not at this time. make sure you're not overfeeding & give yourself more flow. I can't remember, but did you ever put your live rock in?

Not yet I have not gotten it from the friend of a friend yet. And how do I give myself more flow?

I really wouldn't worry about flow that much. But a modded maxi jet powerhead would work for you. Really cheap, too! Get you rock in there since that's your biggest part of your biological filter!

Thank you. It just worrys me when I thought it should of started to clear up by now. That is with the little crabs in there. I dont want anything bad to happen and have to start over.

MysteryBox it does have more bubbles in the tank in the evenings. What does that mean?

your algae produces more Ox the longer the lights are on. No big deal. I was just trying to verify

Oxygen as MB stated. The tank is probably warmer in the afternoon and causes the production of the algae to speed up.

nope, 'wasn't paying any attention to your post on my spelling! I was talking "out loud" while I was reading..............trying to figure out what I'm pressing when I'm on my phone versus my pc. I mean, I use spell check? who cares? just ramblin'................

Thanks for the site info. it has answered a lot of questions I have not even thought about yet. lol I also noticed that my tank did not have as many bubbles in the bottom today maybe that is a good thing.

I got a new addition to my tank today. I have two new pieces of live rock. I don't know what is growing on them but I thought they were cute. It has something that looks kind of like a lilly pad but not really. Then there is a bright yellow some thing it is the size of a quarter. The other piece has something that looks like a tree branch growing on it. Does any of these thing sound like some thing you all would know? Was going to look them up to get more info but I dont know what to look under.
