Help with new tank.

Another option on your lights, depending on how much room you have above the tank would be to add retro M/H when it is time to upgrade, that way you could keep your current lights and not take the loss. Just change the PC bulbs over to 03 . This does depend on space though.

I would say no on the fisson, you don't want to try and save money on the skimmer. It should be the best you can afford.

I am a strong supporter of Euro-Reef I looked at the ASM's when I was buying my skimmer but the quality was just not the same.

I have a skimmer, 9w Uv sterilizer, and 75# of lr for sale if you need any of this check out the drygood and livestock forum:fish:

Thanks for the thought but I can't find out any info on what you listed. I think I have it down to two one is the Octopus 200 and the euro reef RS180. The Octopus is a lot more in my price range. Another question should the tank be growing stuff on the glass already with only the 4 fish and a few white rocks in it?

what is growing on the glass? color? pics?

the octopus is nice and is probably the best bang for the buck.

The same stuff on this rock is in the glass. It looks like it is a greenish brown in color. Only a small amount yesterday like one or two and the rest is from today. Do you think it is good or bad?

Your tank are cycling. Once all that have pass then you will get the brown stuff also.

You should be thinking about clearn up crew once that agle pass. Be a good time to put them in after those stuff are gone.

that is what i would do also andre i do not like puting in a cuc that early and there is a reason, because the tank is unstable and inverts are extremly delicate but some may say they put extremly small amounts of waste in the tank but its better to be safe then sorry.

sal(horseziggy) lost some fish because a snail died and created a dirty tank.

well i think a couple died and then all of the other ones died, i was just showing what could happen even if it was kinda dramatic.

andre wait till you see his tank.

but when you get a cuc i would suggest just going with snails and hermits at first then expanding to cleaner shrimps, which are really cool.

or 7.3463 seconds of your life that you will remember. lol

andre you should pm sal and get a mag for your skimmer

oh and sorry for hijacking the thread, also i doubt you will get your cuc from tim becuase the drive.

Coming in late on this one... do you have a diatom problem going on? If so, just wait it out. Why can't you add in a cleanup crew BTW?

I added mine after two weeks as long as you have live rock they should be ok IMO as long as nothing spikes too bad. I lost one blue legged during acclimation 1 red leg and 1 snail but thats it everything else is thriving and its been about a month and now.
