I'm moving to a place that is on a well. The landlord has told me that the iron levels are high and he hasn't found a solution to the problem. (The bathtub, shower and toilet were ORANGE) I have an RO/DI...... but is that going to be enough? Will high iron levels cause issues for my fish, inverts, corals? Thoughts/suggestions? I plan on cooking and drinking bottled water, but I have an auto top off for my 235 gal.

I has a similar problem with high iron. I installed 2 carbon filters in parellel after the expansion tank. Changed every three months. No more iron problems.

never dealt with it for fish, but I grew up on a well. Don't be scared of it for your own health, it'll make ya stronger! In the end you might even find you like the taste better.

Ok....makes sense. Now help me wrap my brain around how you had this set up. I need it to be in parallel with my RO/DI.

Or....do we think the RO/DI will remove enough crud and I'm making a bigger deal out of this than necessary?

Edit: I must be sleepier than I thought! I meant that I need this to be in series, not parallel with the RO/DI.

The main line after the expansion tank is where you want it. So if the filters clog the well pump pressure switch will still shut off the well.

Make sure the landlord is OK with it of course. Because it is a permanent fixture in the plumbing.

But the rodi will take the iron out. Just change prefilters often
