Rit Aquatics/Atlanta Aquarium

I have to agree, there are some places in the Atlanta area that don't treat you right! However, every time I have been in Imagine Ocean I have ALWAYS been treated with the best respect! Jenn is very helpful! Imagine Ocean will continue to be my LFS for as long as I live here! :)

Gee... IME on this forum, anything I've ever said negative about a sponsor has instantly been deleted. Why is Rit's store different? I've never had anything from him die on me but, I haven't bought any livestock since he got the store.

I, too, have had nothing but outstanding, first class service as well as some of the highest quality livestock in the business. I've had 4 or so transactions with Rit and I am trying my hardest to find something I can complain about, but all I am doing is drawing a blank. When I deal with Rit, I feel like I am buying something from a good friend. How many stores can you walk into and have somebody address you by your name? I'm guessing very few. That bond that Rit and I have makes me much more willing to spend my hard earned money with him.

His prices are unbeatable, imo. EVERYTIME I purchased something from Rit, I was given some sort of freebie frag. I can assure you, that doesn't happen in many stores. He and I talked numerous hours about corals/fish/equipment and issues that were going on at the time within our club.

Somebody mentioned about Rits livestock guarantee (which I have yet to see be posted.) if he doesn't have a guarantee on his livestock and something doesn't make it and Rit replaces it at no cost, that is an outstanding man if you ask me.

If you purchased a vehicle from me and I tell you as-is, if the motor blows 3 days later and you come back to me, I'd tell you I'm sorry. You can't stand behind everything you sell forever.

When I gave my opinion about Warehouse Aquarium where Kevin is(Not Kelley's) it was deleted almost immediately.

I have been to AA a couple times now, mostly just browsing since my tank is just now getting ready for livestock. He has always been nice to me, I hope things work out for everyone who has had livestock die.

same thing about andything said that wasnt totally positive was first jumped on by everyone and then deleted this thread should be deleted also looks like favoritism to me

I originally posted this in the "Rants & Complaints" forum to merely get it off my chest. After seeing what I feared the thread would spiral into come to fruition, I contacted ARC mods to have it deleted. Instead, they moved it directly slap onto AA's forum. Very, very odd.

I in no way wanted to open up a shooting range for others to put Rit into their sights. I was simply "Ranting," and I never intended for this to be seen here.

The only thing ruining this thread is the talk of other fish stores IMO. Consumer awareness is a great thing. If you can post on how great of a experience you had at a store why couldn't you post about a bad one as well?

The only fish that I have bought from a lfs since 2006 was my recently purchased leopard wrasse from RIT! and she's doing great!

I stand by RIT, and his store and livestock.

I have bought corals, fish, and drygoods........no issues whatsoever! I will be back...actually, I think I'll be back more often after this thread......

actually, I love RIT...lol

murderer!

Edit:

Everyone can say good or bad about ANY store so let's leave that one out of this thread...k?

On Rit's behalf I never had issue number one with any of his coral, fish or chalice. He has always treated me as a good customer everytime I walk in. I would go to him before going to most LFS in the atlanta area and give him an A++. Nuff said.

I am surprised not to have seen a response. I am sorry to hear about your experience but I would not say stay away from Rit's store only because of my positive experiences in my dealings with him. I really do hope to see a reply from Rit or at least work something out with one another.

If by stand up you mean take your money and run than yea you are right. He has never once even tried to fix things in any way

I have bought stuff from Rit and never hd any problems. All my questions are answered and they have a true passion for the hobbie.

Then a few days later they started dying. I am sorry but if I sold you something and it died days later after you posted that they were doing great, along with the way I have seen you talk about it.

I feel I would of told you to get lost myself

I would too!

well I for one didn't notice I was posting in a sponsors thread, I was responding to a thread in rants so I will stand by my original post being it was posted in rants. I will say I am awaiting ritt's response.

I will say until this rant thread I had heard nothing but good about ritt when he was either an online business or by appointment but what I am reading here sounds like a business person over whelmed and on the verge or over whelmed trying to wear all hats and most likely exhausted. I can empathize with him in both scenarios. but having said this until I see some rebuttal I will be very hesistant to spend my $$$$$ with this particular lfs.

lol take your money and run. That's almost funny. you purchased TWO pairs of clowns when people tried to prevent you from doing that. You're very quick to jump off the drop end. One would think this hobby would have taught you patience, clearly not.

Sorry to hear about your experience.

Like several others, all my experiences with him have been top notch. I've bought corals and fish from him recently and in the past - no issues. Even exact ones folks have had issues with ... melanarus wrasse and plenty of zoas (all still living).

I also had a large prepaid purchase with him to import several exotics - done pretty much on a hand shake. Again, no issues or concerns.

Again, sorry to hear your troubles, but my dealings with him couldn't be more different.

I seriously hope you guys work it out.

I have bought from Rit for a long time. Way before he opened his basement store. I have never had a problem with anything I have purchased from him. Far from it. I have lost a few of the more difficult fish to keep (potters wrasse, purple queens), but that's on me. He even insisted that he keep a leopard wrasse for me until he could teach it to eat mysis. I wonder if the original posters 4 hour drive had anything to do with it? I'm not insisting that it did and I know that corals are shipped for much longer times than that. I have never know Rit to be anything other than courteous and understanding. As others stated, I'd like to know who moved this from "RNC" to Rit's forum. ARC usually tried vehemently to protect the sponsors. Doesn't seem so in this case...
I wonder why?

Why do corals and fish survive fine in a local fish store for weeks and even months and then for some unknown reason die in less than a week when they are placed in some individuals tank? Come on people !!! If anyone can't answer that question then you should not have an opinion concerning replacement of fish or corals! I don't care if you have a pristine tank of the month.
