Rit Aquatics/Atlanta Aquarium

It appears some are a bit unclear about what the issue at hand was, so perhaps I can clarify. The Mellow yellow was a small, unhealthy frag with no eye. For $175 it should be healthy. The Red hornets were not open and I still paid $30 an eye with his word they'd be ok. They weren't.

On top of that, he strung me along and avoided PMs only to finally respond when I was irritated. He then made a promise to ship the frags on a certain date, then broke contact...again...

To me, that is poor business practice. I told him up front I didn't expect a replacement. He insisted on doing it, and then, when he backed off, he accused me of things which were not true.

In the end, I hate it came to this big thread. I have no idea which moderator threw this slap in the middle of his forum, but it is not what I intended. I hope people who know me and have dealt with me in the past know that I do my best to be fair and honest.

Come on people !!! If anyone can't answer that question then you should not have an opinion concerning replacement of fish or corals! I don't care if you have a pristine tank of the month.

Is this sarcasm? You can run too much copper in a store tank for instance, and when the fish are put in a tank with ZERO copper, they perish fairly rapidly. There are other examples as well. Especially with fish. Keep in mind, both high-priced articles I bring up had issues. They were not healthy specimens ready to be sold IMO.

Like stringing me along for over 4 hours of attempting to meet you to buy something, only for us not to be able to meet up and you sell it to someone else (even after I bought accesories to go with it.) I was irritated, but I let it go. The only reason I bring this up, as it is really unrelated, is that there is 2 sides to every story.....

Edit: Again, I think out of respect to Rit, we need to know what moderator moved it here, and why? Especially after the OP asked for it to be deleted....
If I were Rit, I wouldn't respond. It's a hornet's nest right now. (pun intended)

Didn't Rit used to be everyone's darling around here? It seems like just yesterday that he was 'the man'.

Anyway, he has always been very pleasant and enjoyable to deal with. He has good deals and always wants to hook you up with a free frag or two. I've never bought anything terribly expensive from him, but everything I've owned has done well.

Take like you want to. If I wanted it to apply to you only I can assure you , you would not have to ask. I made a statement on how I felt about a particular type of hobbyist that complains and has no basis for it or cannot figure out why it survived elsewhere and not for them. It seems that you have an idea as to why so based on that I would say it doesn't apply to you, but if you feel that it does then carry on.

You made it very clear you were upset in PMs. I apologized. I don't know my way around Atlanta very well. I also offered to paypal you and pay for the accessories you bought. Like you said, two sides to every story.

Also, I agree that it is surprising it was moved here.

I would imagine that the thread was brought into AA's sponsor thread because that is the only appropriate place for a complaint between a sponsor and a member to be located..

That is and has been the policy for the entire time I've been a member.

Also, the reason that this thread hasn't been deleted is because the ARC provides it's members and sponsors a public place to air complaints (by both parties) if other means of negotiation have fallen by the wayside..

everything I've seen in this thread is typical for a member-sponsor disagreement.. with the exception of the mention of another sponsor's name in this forum, which I have reported so the other name can be removed (given this is not THAT sponsor's forum)

I'll tell you why Rit, most people post it here is because they don't know what they are doing and instead of standing up and suffering the consequences they had rather blame it on someone else.
Just keep on doing your thing Rit most here including me have much respect for you and your business practices:up:

I've been busy and hadn't been active only here lately. I will try to address some of the concern here. Here we go.

Ryan, Ryan, Ryan!
You made 4 separate coral purchsed from me for a total of about $2000.00. Mind you though, every piece of coral that I sold to you were sold at half of the price that you would have gotten from somewhere elese. Now looking back, I wish I never took anyone of your orders since you made claimed on every order that your purchased from me. You even claimed on corals that I sent you as a freebies. Even so I replaced every frags that you claimed to have problem with. Some frags you called me a week or so later that it didn't made it. Even so I replaced the frags for you.
Ryan, you called me dishonest but it is you who is the dishonest one. I'm not much of person with words but I believe I still have our most recent pm'ed exchanges. SO PLEASE STOP YOUR LYING! Now I'm glad that some of our exchanges where through pm.
I don't really have alot of time for this so to make it short, I assumed you that are having problem with the most recent order.
As I told you before, I will replace the two frags recent frags that you lost for you (Mellow Yellow and red hornets) although I shouldn't since you called me two weeks later after you picked up the frags personally.
You claimed that the red hornets melted the next day. I found it hard to believe since the hornets were open when you picked it up. Even so, why didn't you called me the next day when it melted instead of waiting until you came back from FL over a week later to tell me.
You have been a headache for me. YOu call and call me trying to buy other things from me but I keep putting you off. Now you understand why I did what I did. There are days you called me 7-8 times. Yes Ryan, I have my phone bill to prove it.
I dont' have much time these days for this non sense so I will leave it at this.
One last thing I will say to eveyone is that I always bend backward to work with people. Ryan is no exception but he seem not to be happy. It must be retail.

Kris, I dont' understand your post here. You are no exception with anyone else. I always took care of you when you have problem. I don't understand your post here.
I fragged many many corals. Small frags are very hard to keep on a plug. Had you ever try to put a frag on a plug or rock, Kris? Did it stayed on for you? Now, you are only doing a few frags and you ha. Now, imagine doing thousand of frags. A few will fall off. Zoas and mushrooms are hard to keep on the frag plug.
You came to my store to pick up the frag yourself personally. Don't you inspect the corals before you purchased? I assumed they were very healthy hence you purchased the frags, correct? So why is it my fault when the coral melted in your tank? Could it be that your tank might have some issue?

Eh, this is obviously going to degrade into a he-said she-said. There are about 5 lies in all of that at a minimum. When someone spends $2000 for instance, you should treat them as a customer. I tried to do more business in hopes you would follow through with replacing the old coral. Honestly, I told you up front I really didn't care. Call 7-8 times? lol. I would call when I was in Atlanta, because you INSISTED on not shipping the orders, so I would try to reach you when up that way so you would bring the coral to the store.

You told me very early on that you ignored a lot of ARC people because they "weren't worth dealing with." Well, I'm happy to be part of that group.

Rit, Like i said you have taken care of me just little things. Nothing that would stop me from going back. The only reason i would question the Zoas is i have gotton a few from other members and they do fine. I personally saw them sit for two weeks before sold me me and so forth. Is it a big deal it fell off? No way. Other corals ive gotton from you have done great. Just zoas. Why? Idk. Maybe there is a huge change from T5s to LEDs?
Like i said When it came to any fish i got from you or Invert they did great! You took care of me when the fish i had died you replaced it with no question. You understood i drove 2 hours to get to your Home since i got lost on the way:eek: Even stayed open late for me.

I was not here to knock you Rit, Mearly stating i think some stuff was sold to fast.

I hope you dont feel i was putting this on you to make it out as the bad guy.

You will continue to see me and Have my business.
I guess i should have not gotton into this as it blew up big time.
As stated before every LFS has good and bad days. Hell if we didn't whats the point?

Well, that second part is a clear lie. I'd like to see the PM containing that....
Rit, I think people will appreciate your response and those that know you can attest that this entire thread is nonsense.

as with every disagreement..

Eh, I know I'm an "outsider" being an Augustan, and that doesn't bother me. I was brave enough to speak up, and I'll accept the bashing from whoever. I felt he was dishonest, I felt he was stringing me along. That behavior is OK in your basement, but not ok with a storefront.

Ok, speaking of PMs. This, after weeks of silence, helped Rit respond to me within minutes....

A little dissapointed in you Rit...
I know you said certain people are "not worth dealing with," but I feel like I am. I've spent at least a few thousand with you in the last 6 months and you've continually blown me off lately.

I know you're busy, but you've assured me you would do this, do that, get me pictures of the replacements, etc etc, and you don't come through.

At this point I'm tired of asking. $200 worth of replacement coral to me isn't a lot to ask when I spend much beyond that...

It feels like I should feel guilty for asking, but in the end I'm the customer, you're the business, I think I should have a right to at least some response or follow up by the business.

I'm totally not trying to jump down your throat Rit, you're a nice guy. I've tried to make you money while getting nice coral and I could make you more in the future; I just don't understand what is going on right now....

-Ryan

I know one thing, I'll continue to be a loyal customer to a store that treats their customers like you have treated me in the past.

Ok, just to make this clear, his next PM, and where the lies start....I'll explain each lie in bold.

Ok, so there you have it. This is where I was offended.
