RKL Heater Function

I noticed my heaters ( 2 Eheim 200 Watt ) kicking on and off fairly rapidly lately ( seconds ). They are connected to my Reef Keeper Lite. After further observation I noticed the iTemp probe bouncing back and forth between 1/10th of a point triggering the behavior, 77.4 - 77.5. My heaters are in the overflow and my temp probe is in the tank side of the DT so it wasn't proximity causing this fluctuation. I changed my setup today to let my heaters control the temp and set my RKL up as a safety valve to cut the power at 79. Just curious if anyone else has experienced this and what they did to work around it.

Don't now about reef keepers, but .1 degree is generally to tight to control. I believe I would go at least .3 degrees apart. Maybe even .5

RKL has a heater function. I don't see an option to control the variance. I am sure a similar function could be setup with alarms.

Increase the hysteresis on the controller. If you want it at 80 and set the hysteresis to 0.5. It will turn on at 79.5 and turn off at 80.5.For more info see page 28.

Set the PC4 outlet up as a controller, then have the device the iTemp, with a hysteresis of .02 or so, then set the Eheim heaters internal thermostats a bit above the RKL controller Setpoint as a backup.
