Shallow reef to scale 1st look

Another victim of the led/t5 combo, welcome aboard lol. I had true actinic and 6500k bulbs supplementing my leds. Last week I switched my 6500k to the ati aquablue special and wow, I love that bulb

That's it... I'm a victim ! I'm a victim of all the gadgets I have, and I hope to be a victim a lot more in the near future haha

So long, and thanks for all the fish.

hope all is going well

did u end up staying with the radions and t5?

Thanks JB. It has also been through 4 light changes / a aefw outbreak, and a few other issues. Honestly I'm not sure how stuff is even still alive haha. Hopefully as things steady off and get bigger the growth will come on faster.
It's so hard getting started w small frags because you don't see a lot of growth. Big corals make bigger corals faster;) I think a lot of people get discouraged because their 1" frags haven't made 2x 1" frags in 6 months, but the surface area just isn't there yet. Corals grow exponentially.

Would you mind posting your parameters and maintenance routine. I have heard you say before that it's more about keeping water than livestock.

Well ... Right now
Salt is D&D reef
Po4 is 0
No3 is 0 (slowly raising this to a detectable level)
Ca~ 420
Alk ~ 8.5
Temp @ 77-78
Ph ~ 8.1-8.4
.
I do does acro power @2 ml / day
no3Po4 -x @ 1ml / day (trying to find a balance w it)

Skimmer runs 23hours
Maintain alk and such with kalk reactor fed from the ATO
I do a 5 g water change each week.

Nothing complicated really ;)
The biggest thing in my very limited experience is stability, and not chasing numbers;)

Here are a few pics of how I have my lighting set up. Over the course of this year I plan on making a hanger to accommodate these pieces more solidly. So far I have just built it as I go, kind of like a Lego set haha. I should be able to get measurements / order what I need/ and build something more attractive now that I know what I want...... I think;)

So here it is at this point. 2x non pro radion G3 with 120degree lenses. 2x 54w 6500GE T5 and 2x 54w blue plus T5

Great lighting combo. It will look very nice if you had like a floating canopy style.

That's what I'll eventually go to. No rush;)

I don't know man, I kinda like the mad scientist look!
but if you did go with a canopy, a four sided no top would be a good option to expel that heat.

i would go 3 sides... with simple magnets holding glossy thin sheets of acrylic to the steel frame :) no reason to case the back in...

one thing about the mad scientist look.... things are really easy to get to and work on / and or add too / fix.
