I'll have 144 led to cover the 48x24 tank by the end of the week as well as some sps food!! (Some nice fish)

Overall the tank is doing really well. 0 visible algae on the rocks / sand bed.

Sps are encrusting little by little.

i have 120 3w cree,84 royal blue,24 cool white and 12 warm white(high noon) on my 120g(48"x24"x24")
royal blue 90%
cool white 55%
warm white 55%
i personally dont think youll ever need whites at 80% especially this early.leds are a LOT brighter than they appear but your mileage may vary

Maybe it's photo trickery, but it looks like you're getting some serious spotlighting. What degree lenses are on the lights?

It's not NEARLY as bad as it looks on the sand bed...
I'd have to go see what lenses

So long, and thanks for all the fish.

The major update is that I've decided to go with Radion XR30w. Over the tank.

So long, and thanks for all the fish.

My fear is frying my sps. They don't "look" as bright as say T5. Going to trust %s

The ORs are a really good value, but I wanted more control ultimately. The radion stuff gives me that.

Ok, so an update is in order I suppose.
things are doing really good right now. I have pretty darn good color and some pretty good growth as well on my sps tank.

i have changed lighting ... changed lighting... and changed again ahaha, but I do enjoy the chase so i'm not to worried about it :)

I currently have 2 non pro Radion G3 with wide angle lenses over the tank with 4 additional t5 lamps (2 blue plus and 2 GE 6500k).

The blue plus is on 6 hours a day, but the 6500s are only on for one hour at this point a the peak of the lighting schedule.I may increase it to a few hours, but i want to see how things do.

overall the sps have done well with the radions. some corals CLEARLY do better than others. Milliporas seem to struggle a bit, not die, just struggle, while some acros really take off quickly. Torts also seem to color up and do really well under the lights.

Here's a few pics to show what I did w adding the t5.
Again, I'm not saying the radions aren't sufficient, but I'm learning I like to tinker haha.

Because of limited room what I did was drop the second t5 retro (the outside lamps) down some and angle the reflectors with lamp clips.

So long, and thanks for all the fish.

I am really curious to see how you like the 6500 bulbs.

Hey man I used the 6500k over my sps tank a long time when I had the 120, and it always grew great :)

The Radions can probably produce something that looks really similar, but I do like the coverage I get with the little tubes :)

Just a word on how I have these Radions programmed.
I was getting easy to get confused as far as the what % each channel is at. This is because you have individual sliders for each color to change the % as well as an intensity %, so if you had your whites at %40 and the intensity at %60 you have to figure out what %60 of %40 is to figure out what your lights are actually running at haha.
now, thats not a hard thing to do, but another step is another step.
so right now I have the intensity at 100%, but have gone back to the color profile and programmed my lights to where I want them, so that I know at 12 noon white is at %50 and so on.

It just seem like an extra complication to me.
