Someone hacked their site and stole many folks credit card numbers and have gone wild. I have ordered from Savko (Black PVC) a few times but luckily I placed my orders over the phone.

Raising his hand in shame! They ordered a portable DVD and some other stuff. Got it taken care of but what a pain it was. Phone only for me with them!

A couple more super useful things available at the grocery store:

I thought I'd share a cheap solution to a digital timer.

Coralife sells this http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=11304&Ntt=coralife&Ntk=All&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Np=1&pc=1&N=0&Nty=1">digital timer</a> with alternating day and night outlets for $28.

However, one can buy this [IMG]http://www.powersentry.com/products/100283.php">digital timer</a> from Target for $10. The only difference is this one does not have the night-time programmed outlets.

Both have 4 outlets that are always on.

It was $29.99 + $6.65 shipping. Way less than the $49.99 + $8 shipping Euroreef wanted.

They also had other brand skimmer parts. Ordered on 1/29 and got it on 2/2.

Little bit more expensive than the place listed above for Sedra impellors and shafts, but they carried mine in stock and they ship super fast.

Just ran across this:

http://www.kjmagnetics.com/proddetail.asp?prod=BX0X06BR">http://www.kjmagnetics.com/proddetail.asp?prod=BX0X06BR</a>

Sealed magnets for a good price.

I don't think you would want an unsealed magnet in your tank. Cermaic magnets are usually made out of strontium carbonate and iron oxide. The later gives me great pause in an aquairum. The magnets I listed above are sealed in a rubber casing.

Most water pump magnets are sealed inside a plastic casing at least the part that is on the prop. I haven't pulled a pump completely apart yet, but I would be suprised if they left a magnet exposed to salt water as it would likely corrode and leech iron into the water. Maybe there is some form of a magnet that doesn't have this problem, but I wouldn't recommend sticking a magnet in the tank unless I knew exactly what its compisition is. Most magnet mounts are encased in plastic or acrylic.

The magnetic frag plugs you can buy are sealed magnets which I use on my tank. Clearly nothing stopping someone from using cheap magnets in their tank however.

After doing a bit of reading the main concern is rust which apparently is inert although it will discolor the water in even small quantities. The second is the quality and construction of the magnet. Some magnets use alternate metals to help with the brittle aspects of a magnet. Some of these metals apparently can include copper. What I haven't been able to figure out is what Barium or Strontium carbonate does in saltwater which is the bonding material for a ceramic magnet. I am guessing Barium isn't a big deal, but Strontium carbonate may be.

I assumed that was your meaning earlier. I was just noting the company that sells them uses a sealed version. Seems like some kind of small film canister item they stick the magnet in.
