I picked up a IM 30L tank, 36x15x13. My wife would like more of a piece of furniture for the stand that just an aquarium stand. I did find these two stands at Target and was wondering if you think they would work.

The first one is a bit larger of a footprint, Dimensions: 34.1 inchesH x 42 inchesW x 18.4 inchesD, but I prefer this one.

This one would be a perfect fit. Not sure about the legs how they taper at the end of that would be an issue.Dimensions: 30.250 inchesH x 38.000 inchesW x 15.750 inchesD

It would depend on how much weight the stand can hold.

36x15x13=7020, 7020/231= 30.38 gallons. 8 lbs per gallon (I round it up to 10 to accommodate for peripherals etc., you're looking at 300 lbs or so sitting on whatever cabinet you choose.

If it's a glass tank with trim on the bottom, that trim has to be evenly and equally supported, because if it is crooked or twists, the risk of seam failure is real.

Most aquarium stands are surprisingly simple - but they support the tank where it needs it.

If it's an acrylic tank or trimless, it will need a perfectly flat level surface all across the bottom or the burst/leak risk is a problem too.

Which ever you choose, I would add some reinforcing to it. You should be able to tuck some in without it being too visible. Maybe add a 4" wide strip of 3/4" plywood across the back to prevent the top from sagging.

It will hold it for a while. Lol There is no way one could answer that unless they have tried it or could see it in person. It depends on the material used and the joinery.

Most of that stuff is made with mdf or particle board. If it is made with veneer core or wood you really have to concerned with it handling lateral shear and moisture. Double the price and have a custom one made. I know that is more money but so is renting a vacum and dehumidifier and buying new floor and a new tank and new corals and new fish and new lights.

I found a home depot liquidator on craigslist and found a vanity and had a custom granite top cut. If you want the details, shoot me a PM. I still have the piece I was using as a stand if you're interested.

Search CL for both media console and vanity. Both, if built sturdy, will work fine.

personally, i wouldn't put a tank on something like that... but thats just me
