This didn't look wild, but it could have been. Most of the corals I've gotten from Simon are still alive in my tank, lol.

With these things you cannot tell by looking at them - you just have to trust the vendor.
Typically a conical base is 100% wild. Anything fragged could still be wild because they come in huge colonies and get chopped up.
Anyhow this is my third. I love them...one of my favs.

1. Gold-tipped, conical base, wild - Dead pretty quick
2, Orange-tipped, fragged, aqua-cultured - Alive and well
3. Blue-tipped, fragged, unk - only the second day, fully extended, fingers crossed

So I have this problem...

I hate the feeling when you go into a smaller, intimate setting and leave empty handed. Its a super awkward and I feel like a douche when I do it because, you know, I don't like wasting people's time or my own.
And my second problem is that I can't buy stuff unless I feel that it's a decent deal.
Putting these 2 problems together invariably leads to you owning something you don't need.

That being said...I now own a 6-7" derasa.

I spent a ton of time re-arranging things in the frag tank to accommodate it. Ironically, my frag tank is ever so slowly starting to look better than my DT

Ugh, I stopped by Nemos yesterday bc they had some new torches and I had a gift card burning a hole in my pocket.
As a general rule, I never regret the things I do but sometimes its just expensive, lol.

I walked out with two torches - an aussie gold and a joker.
I've always been hesitant to buy aussie golds because of their finicky reputation versus indos. But this particular one had 6 budding heads which I've never seen on an aussie gold - its usually just one giant head that never ever splits.
The joker was just because I caught Shawn-fever...its tough to see the neon green mouth because as soon as you touch it, the tentacles fatten up.

Anyhow, fingers crossed that they do well

They are wild caught so I've got fingers crossed. I'm always anxious with wild caught corals

Doing good thus far. Fluffy and good extension.

I wish I hadn't but I've gone and researched more on the aussies and it seems that they have a super high mortality rate after 3-6 months. Anyhow, I've got my fingers crossed.

The funny thing is that usually online - anecdotal evidence is about a coin toss. Good and bad experiences are about 50/50...keeping tangs together, multiple clowns, clams, lighting, water changes, dosing, etc. Except with the aussies...man, its about 90/10 going the wrong way.

@hzheng33 has the oldest colony that I know of (let's be honest I don't know that many people lol) and he says its about 2-3 years old.
It'd be interesting to see who has the oldest colony locally...

i got it as a head...and it's now splitting into two main branches, each of the branch are splitting as well....but at a painfully slow rate. if i look at each of the branches individually, it could pass as a wall hammer.
