Chapter 2: 50g Lowboy LPS

I know what you mean on the yellow tang - he's just a pig that shits everywhere
We may go bigger at some point but I'm honestly not a fan of automated everything so I'm enjoying using my arms an the ato and doser but its only practical at this size and due to the amount of time I spend in the office. We'll see what the future brings.

I have a mental list on dibs. Out of courtesy mainly, I'm sure if ever I start fragging everyone will already have whatever they are looking for. Plus I'm going to be sticking RB behind all the names which increases the prices by 300% (from what I've learned in the hobby this far)

@ptreef - the cole (and probably the yellow)
@trizzino - WD, HW, Space Invader chalice
@zoajohn - yellow submarine favia
@civics14 - my xenia garden
@Adam - my gummy bear physique

ROFLMAO

I'd kill to be in the shape you're in. Sucks when your body can't keep up with your mind. Brain says you can do it, when you try the body says no the F you can't!

I can understand where you're coming from with automation if you really want to be hands on for everything. But if you're not there there's no hands. You're right about the surface area and evaporation. With my last system I had a total of 28sf of surface. 6x2' display, 4x2 frag tank & 4x2 sump. I'd go through 2 to 3.5 gallons a day depending on how dry it was in the house.
If I had to give up all the automation components except one, I'd keep the ATO.

I got a nub of WD and HW. We will see how much growth I get outta them.

Well I spent an hour goofing around and not working and came up with this. I was too lazy to use filters
It doesn’t look great but we’ll see how the acros do. I think they should grow faster but who knows.
Anyhow my fish have more room to swim so yay

Ok after a day I’m coming to like the look and utility of the cpvc forest. It makes the tank more spacious and gives everything room to grow.
Ugly is subjective but it’s growing on me.

I had a large plate coral start to go south on me so I put it in the frag tank because I read that you aren’t supposed to toss them when they are dying because babies might sprout from the skeleton.

Well here they come

Modified to cpvc forest to add a low middle row for euphyllia. The initially ugly look is slowly growing on me. Functionally I think it’s better than eggcrate for flow and swimming room

Well tried my hand at fragging some acros.
The tricolor was growing weird with the branches crossing so I chopped off a couple.

And then I got brave and made a couple of backups for the WD.

Fingers crossed

Here and there. Been pretty busy. Its coming up on falconry season been spending alot more time getting the birds ready. I have been lurking on here just haven't posted much. How have you been?

Picked up an ATO from @Reefchef and put it on the frag tank...pretty neat little contraption.
Semi-prepping for a short holiday we are planning to take in November.

Other than that tank is looking well - acros and montis are encrusting nicely.

Frogs and hammers don't look as poofy as they do in the DT. I'm experimenting with dosing nitrates (stump remover) right now.
Nitrates are somewhere between 0-5 (API) but closer to 0. My kids (younger eyes) guessed around 1 based on the color.

I'm glad you liked it, I loved it. Sorry I couldn't meet you yesterday, but like I said its been crazy for me lately! Enjoy it my friend!

Picked up a huge elegance coral locally...it actually is the size of a small cantaloupe. The female clown moved from hosting a frogspawn to the elegance almost immediately.

You get that from Nemo? I grabbed one from him last week :D

Nice. Nemo gets some beautiful wild specimens but the wild stuff doesn't do well for me.
I got it from Kyle. I think its been in a tank for over a year before he got it.
Hopefully my clown doesn't pester it too much

This didn't look wild, but it could have been. Most of the corals I've gotten from Simon are still alive in my tank, lol.
