What did you do to your tank today

Yes I had a rogue peppermint that ate my acans also. Set up the old bottle trap and he went back to the LFS.

Nothing today, went away for a week. Sunday did a 15% waterchange, cleaned my skimmer cup, refilled my rodi, mounted a few corals that got knocked over, put a fan over the tank and programmed it with my Apex.

Added a bicolor dottyback. Time to get the skimmer going before I get to crazy with the tank lol

Made about 36 zoas/palys frags, cleaned the glass as well as the stand

Took down the LED and put up the MH . . . Contemplating which way to go permanently. I really do like the look of the MH but I hate to give up the programmable modes of the LED (sunrise/sunset, etc). Will upgrade my lighting soon - either to high end LED (Radion, Mitras) or tried-and-true MH but w T5/LEDs for affect (Hamilton Cebu Sun) . . . Just playing right now.

Update... Today I got some more of my rock out of my dads system. I think I have it, like I like it. Has two flat ledges, a cave and a few swim unders. I also got the protein skimmer going, it has only been running for a few hours and it is already pulling stuff out of the water. Thats a baby skimmer compared to my other AquaC, I have been very impressed with their skimmers. Yesterday I added a bicolor dottyback and today I added what I think is a damsel... I dunno my dad said it needed to go out coral trough.lol. There are a few mushrooms and ricordias on the rock as well. ...It is time to cool it for a week or so and let everything settle in.

I added 10 new frags of chalice...have no idea what they are, but they started as two frags and while I was drip acclimating them, I noticed that I had a new diamond wheel for my dremel tool...so 2 became 10, first time fragging LPS, sps and softies are easy, hope atleast some of them make it, lol...guess I should have added the vodka after drip acclimating the corals.

I hope you kept them cool with saltwater... chalices are prone to infection.

After I scored I snapped them easily and used a scalpel to cut the soft tissue. I tried to be as easy as possible with them. I then dipped in coral rx for a few minutes and then an iodine based dip for a few mins. Hopefully this was the correct way. I know a frag saw would have been better, I am going to try to build one in the next few weeks.

I'm not a big "dip " guy , I think it's kind of toxic... maybe the iodine dip because of the open wound.
but what do I know...lol hope they'll make it !

yesterday I added more coral...I now have 7 different kind of Zoa's. And i got v-120 skimmer dialed in. It helps when the gate valve is above the water line in the sump.

A couple days ago I was using a shop vac to clean out the bottom of my remote sump and got a nasty shock from the shopvac. So I decided it was the last time.

Since I wasn't able able to sleep last night I decided to build a vacuum attachment to my hard plumbed drain / water change station. It has a valved (to control suction amount) quick attachment and long flexible hose to suction out all the nasty buildup in the sump. I reduced the size of the tubing to increase
suction.

The drain / water change system is powered by a quiet one pro 4000 with quick attachments to reverse flow for draining or filling.

I mounted a bunch of corals last night. Not sure if that's where they'll stay though.

Had to move some coral around and adjust the skimmer a little.

LA order came in. Everything looks super healthy so far.

Added flame angel, kole tang, Copperband butterfly, desjardini and powder blue tangs.

When fish come in like these it boggles my mind why anyone would pay 2x more for divers den fish!

Installed 2 Kessil 360w's. Need to hook up the VDM tonight or tomorrow.
